Welcome to AIHLI LEGACY



AIHLI Legacy is an e-learning initiative that conducts research programs, community inclusive human rights educational awareness, publications, and offers leadership and Mentorship Programs to legal scholars, academics, activists, civil organizations from diverse African countries.


The objective is to effectively address dynamics faced by Africans and the Globally community by dissecting international human rights and international humanitarian law subjects with the aim of contributing towards the impactful transformation needed of these legal instruments. The goals are to identify, analyse, review, and test prospective remedies available or needed to IHL and IHRL related challenges affecting the realisation of peace and security in Africa and the Global community.


The initiative has been established by Ms Ntombizodwa Msane a South African Legal Scholar and human rights activist who is passionate about effectively contributing towards resolutions of IHL and IHRL subjects broadly in Africa by exploring African solutions by Africans.

AIHLI LEGACY is so proud to share the Season 1 Special Edition segment on "The African Leaders Advocating for Human Rights in Africa" by showcasing 6 human rights leaders and activists that unapologetically raise their voices for human rights in Africa and Globally. The segment featured Ms Ntombizodwa Msane, the founder and director of AIHLI Legacy profiling the prominent African leaders represented by Ghana HE Ambassador Dr. Samuel Jacobs-Abbey, PhD, MBA, BS, CGPP, South Africa Ms Melene Rossouw, The Kindgom of Eswatini Ms Tenele Mkhabela, Nigeria Mr Opeyemi Owolabi, Rwanda Mr Valentin Akayezu Muhumuza and Afghanistan Mr Ahmad Seyar Lalee. The purpose of bringing all these impactful individuals from across Africa was to have a discussion on the pertinent human rights challenges and social issues from their professional and personal expertise.


The identified human rights dynamics and notable challenges remain persistent within the principles of the following non-exhaustive list based on the discussions covered during our engagements which are as follows: Freedom of Expression, Rights to Life, Assembly, Demonstration and Petition, Socio-Economic Rights; Culture, Language and Education, Equality, Freedom and Security of Person, Access to Courts, Rights of Detainees and Accused Persons, Dissemination of Information, Displacements and Rights of Refugees. Education needs to be unbiased and shared with the intent to empower communication with nations that can be utilised as the most essential component of transformation.


Resolution to complex circumstances will result in the realisation that engaging one another with a comprehensive understanding of ones challenges and needs can be remediated with practical and action oriented innovative strategies. AIHLI Legacy remains committed to ensuring that human rights subjects are discussed to educate and empower remedial measures in Africa and Globally with the primary intention of seeing transformation in our lifetime. AIHLI, appreciates and applauds the human rights leaders and activist that continue to raise their voices and are in the frontline of rallies, conversations on human rights violations as it is imperative for realisation of a revolutionary Africa and Global community.

The Leadership and Mentorship Program

AIHLI LEGACY is elated to present the "EMPOWER the Mentee to Mentor Program", which is a research educational program that equips human rights activators to becoming fully rounded leaders. The program consist of a skills program that provides action oriented activities to the Mentees that enables them to being effective leaders in their own right.
